# Cardi B to Receive Partial Payment in Defamation Lawsuit Settlement Against Tasha K

According to new court documents filed on Friday, February 21st, rapper Cardi B will begin receiving some of the money owed to her in her defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Tasha K.

Tasha K's legal team has agreed to a payment plan that will amount to just under $200,000 over the course of 5 years. In exchange, Cardi B has dropped her objections to Tasha's bankruptcy filing. As part of the agreement made in bankruptcy court, Tasha has also agreed not to make any derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory statements against the rap superstar.

This agreement only covers a small portion of the overall $3.9 million settlement that Tasha K owes to Cardi B. However, court documents note that Tasha will still be responsible for the remainder of the money after completing her bankruptcy repayment plan, as the judgment is classified as "non-dischargeable."

The legal battle began in 2019 when Cardi B first filed the lawsuit, claiming Tasha K (whose real name is Latasha Kebe) conducted a "malicious campaign" to damage Cardi's career and reputation. The YouTuber had published videos alleging Cardi B had performed explicit acts with beer bottles while working as a stripper, and accused her of being a prostitute who had contracted herpes.

Cardi B won the lawsuit in 2022, resulting in Tasha K being ordered to remove over 20 defamatory videos about Cardi B and prohibited from posting about the "Bodak Yellow" rapper again.

The payment process has been complicated by Tasha K's bankruptcy filing in 2023. Cardi B initially attempted to have the YouTuber's bankruptcy case dismissed, claiming that Tasha and her husband had orchestrated an "eight-month-long scheme to hinder, delay, and defraud" the Bronx rapper's efforts to collect the $3.9 million judgment.

Last month, Tasha K responded in court, arguing that Cardi's attempt to block the bankruptcy was actually a "backdoor attempt to silence her voice" with non-disparagement terms so broad that they would undermine her career. In her filing, Tasha claimed Cardi was "seeking to sabotage the debtor's career through unreasonable restrictions on her First Amendment rights."

With this latest agreement, Cardi B has withdrawn her objection to Tasha's bankruptcy, allowing the payment plan to proceed.
